Employee References

As a general rule under the Privilege Doctrine the courts will allow an employer to give information about a former employee that may be defamatory if such information is in the interest of the requesting employer and the public. The giving of information must protect that interest. This is called a privilege that the courts will protect, but is not without conditions.
