2.1 Basic fundamentals should be adhered to when allowing an employee to handle cash. 2.2 The employees must be responsible for the beginning bank, all pay-outs from their drawer, and all receipts they have handled in their shift. 2.3 Employees should be required to balance their drawer at the end of the shift. However, management should regularly spot check all clerks in an unannounced fashion and run an X tape and count drawers during shifts. If this is done in an unscheduled fashion, employees will never know if they are going to be audited and will be less prone to under-ring.
