Employee evaluations, when used constructively, are useful tools for: 1.1 Recognising satisfactory and excellent performance. 1.2 Improving unsatisfactory performance and undesirable behaviour. 1.3 Providing a basis for meritorious pay increases and promotions. 1.4 Evaluating the performance of recently hired employees. 1.5 Determining the reaction of employees to recent position changes. 1.6 Determining the potential of employees for reclassification or promotion. 1.7 Determining which employees to layoff or furlough, when necessary. 1.8 Developing or maintaining employee incentive and/or bonus programs.
